Thank You Volunteers - Midsummer Community Cleanup
Rain didn't stop a dedicated group of volunteers from making a difference Saturday as 19 community members, from young children to adults, gathered for the latest Friends of Nolensville Parks Community Cleanup.
Volunteers spent the morning removing litter from several areas throughout Nolensville, including Gregory Park, nearby streets, a storm drain, a retention pond, and the Nolensville High School parking lots.
Among the more unusual items collected were a Christmas pillow lodged in a street drain near Gregory Park and large tarps pulled from a retention pond, highlighting the importance of regular community stewardship efforts.
"Every cleanup reminds us that even small acts of service make a visible difference," said Mary Kate Pollreis, Chair of Friends of Nolensville Parks. "We were especially grateful to see volunteers of all ages show up despite the rain. Their commitment says a great deal about how much our community cares for its parks and public spaces."
Following the cleanup, volunteers were treated to complimentary beignets generously provided by Wabash Southern Kitchen, a local business that partnered with Friends of Nolensville Parks to thank participants for their service.
Friends of Nolensville Parks hosts quarterly community cleanups to encourage stewardship, build community connections, and help keep local parks, trails, and public spaces clean and welcoming for everyone.
The organization's next Community Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, October 10.
